Photography, for most of my working life as a research scientist and a psychodynamic counsellor, has been my escape and one of my passions.

I very much enjoy the paradoxical nature of photography, it being at the same time, an art, a science and a social engagement, depending on our perceptions, our perspectives and even our emotional responses to what we see through the camera lens.

My small camera is always with me and using it hand-held gives me the freedom to explore visually and experience emotionally, any place or subject at any time.

I am particularly drawn to natural environments, from dramatic vistas to detailed designs, where I can also pursue my other interests of walking, birdwatching and wildflower identification. Such places have the power to remind me of our place in the world, to lift my spirits and to restore hope that in the end nature will prevail.
