“DANGEROUS SLIPWAY”

Mellon Charles Beach, 2020

Early one September morning…

Early one September morning…

Suddenly, clouds seem to explode beyond the dangerous slipway,

sand tries to cover the crumbling concrete,

 limpets and barnacles cling on

and seaweed lies low, drying along the rusty rails.

As the clouds disperse …

As the clouds disperse …

Slowly, sun and shade creep up the beach and the dangerous slipway,

The tide turns to reclaim concrete and rails,

 sea restores the desiccated weed

and life stirs again in the limpets and barnacles.
